While Mama’s friends on the east coast were preparing for more snow this weekend, Mama’s coast got a little taste of summer. It was a sunshiny day and the kids couldn’t be happier to be playing outside soaking up some much needed vitamin D. How does one survive inside all the time with the horrendous weather?! It’s been torture to keep them inside with all the rain and cold weather we’ve had this past season.
While it was just a small weather blip, Mama started spring cleaning the backyard. Now it is confirmed — outdoor toys only last one summer season. Unless you’re diligent about putting the toys away and keep them protected from the wet weather, they are sure to turn out as disgusting as Mama’s have. At first Mama concocted a half vinegar and water solution to soak the black-mold ridden toys. While it was soaking, Mama grabbed a scrub brush and started to scrub them but then half of them were just too faded and weathered to save. So those Mama started to pitch. Then as those toys got tossed…the ones that might be worth saving, were still slimy and not coming clean…
Mama decided that this was not the best spring cleaning project and threw up the hands and said — time to go to Target. Thank goodness that summer toys are fairly inexpensive because they DO only last one season. You know your little one is sucking water off of those toys and sticking them in their mouths — don’t take the risk that they could get sick from those nasty, moldy toys to save a few dollars.
