Mama has totally been having one of those weeks. You know the kind where nothing seems to fit right and the weather is all wacky so it makes it even harder to get dressed in the morning. Usually it’s the kids complaining about a tummy-ache or ailing from stuffed up nose — it’s now Mama’s turn. Mama has a tummy-ache! Okay, now that Mama is done complaining, it still doesn’t explain what is wrong with Mama. The only thing Mama can think of is that: a) too many sit-ups were completed at last week’s workout (doubtful…plus it’s been over a week!), b) the start of the flu or some other unexplainable illness or c) let’s not think about what this could possibly be…yikes!! For those who live somewhere with constant cold weather, a nice Rasta Zip Up Hoodie would be great to avoid those freezing temperatures.
Now that Mama has your attention, let’s get back to the wardrobe secrets Mama has been meaning to share with you. You’re feeling bloated, fat, pregnant, sick — whatever the ailment, there is a wardrobe to hide it. Just be creative and you’ll look like a million bucks on the outside…while the inside could still feel like a shiny penny.
For the bloated day — thank goodness every women feels like this, right?! It can’t just be Mama…on these days dress for success in pants that stretch and a tunic with length. This way you don’t feel like you have to suck it in when anyone comes in sight — which can be rather painful. Mama is loving the new fall styles from Old Navy which are not only cute but also budget-friendly! Try these Side-zip Jersey Leggings, $14.50, and the Plaid Drop-Waist Tunic, $22.50, for an outfit that is comfortable and forgiving for those bloated-kind-of-days.
For the I’m pregnant but don’t want anyone to notice yet day — Mama prefers to conceal a pregnancy with regular clothes like empire waist tops and skinny jeans pulled together by a Bella Band. However this changed when Mama saw how adorable these Maternity Cargos, $51.90, are — slimming and comfortable. Paired with this Crochet-trip Top, $26.50, the only one who will notice is you…that and if you’re running to the bathroom every 10 minutes.
For the I need to look professional but I’m a SAHM — most SAHM’s have finally given up that they will ever fit or need their suits and business attire ever again. Some lucky gal has gotten some great deal from The Salvation Army on that Tracey Reese suit Mama turned in. No need to run out and replace the suit if you have the occasional business meeting. Instead keep a solid color wrap dress in your wardrobe and you’ll always be ready for an impromptu biz meeting. It’s a classic style that can go with heels, flats or boots — whatever your shoe style may be. Mama recommends one with cap sleeves for a more day-time look. Try this one from Nordstrom.com, $118. This dress can totally be worn for date night too!
For the I just want to wear sweatpants, don’t feel good type of day — Mama’s sage advice: avoid jeans. No matter how stretchy, by mid-afternoon you will definitely be left feeling uncomfortable. Leggings are a good choice but Mama found these amazing pants that are not leggings but not jeans — they are some sort of hybrid with no seams and no pockets — Uninterrupted Pants, $118, at Anthropologie.com. Paired with a cute hoodie like the so-trendy faux fur one from Old Navy, $29.50, you’ll feel comfortable and look stylish!
