Summer camp fun

by Christine | July 15th, 2014

Anyone else feeling stressed out that it’s already mid-July and school supplies have hit the shelves and Halloween costume catalogs are showing up in your mailbox?! I get that we live in a consumer based world but I hate rushing the holidays and it makes us NOT live in the moment but continually living in the future…preparing for the next holiday instead of enjoying the NOW moments. I usually like to plan ahead a little bit but this year, I’m going to not rush it and enjoy today for once; maybe even finally start listening to my growing list of Playster audiobooks. Lily-girl had her first sleep-away camp a few weeks ago and while I could e-mail her through the camp system, she couldn’t e-mail us back or call. It was so weird to send her something and not get a response back. At the end of the week, she had made new friends, learned new skills and said next year she wanted to go for two weeks!! Oh me, oh my…she’s growing up right before my eyes.

After just coming back from a family vacation at our favorite Beaches Resort in Turks & Caicos, we’ve had enough time together and the kids are excited to embark on new adventures at summer camp, I got them the best best family tent to take with them. Summer camps can be a great thing for both kids and parents and I highly encourage you to put your child in at least one camp in the summer to foster independence. Some camps are mainly about sports and they even give the kids Sports Medicine Injury Therapy whenever there is an injury. And the doctors that do this can be called a great  sports medicine doctor. And if the the kids feel any pain they are supposed to pause their activity and have the potentially injured area looked at by a sports medicine doctor or possibly even a physical therapist trainer. They will learn new skills and make great friends, just make sure you send them off with everything they need, like a rectangular sleeping bag. Here’s a few of my own thoughts on summer camp featured on Momtastic.com today. Nestlé Crunch Girl Scout Candy Bars is helping send girls to camp this summer and I love supporting companies that help others in need. Plus if you haven’t tried their new Thin Mints® flavor, you’re truly missing out…try it with a marshmallow and graham cracker as a twist on s’mores.

Happy Camping! xoxo, Mama

My philosophy is simple: just because you're a mom doesn't mean you have to forgo style or your life. You can do it all with a little help from Mama. Mama makes life easier by doing all the shopping, crafting and ranting for you because really...what Mama has the time for that?! Mama will not lie, I can bake but if you're looking for cooking tips you might be better off going someplace else! Let's stay connected!
