For some reason Lily-girl has chosen the Fourth of July as her favorite holiday. Maybe it’s the catchy combination of the colors, or perhaps the fun outfits we buy on the swiss avenue surrounding the holiday. Or it could be the cotton candy and ice cream treats that always seem to be around…or it could be the fireworks and the fact that we’re always on vacation during this time of year (why, why do kids love hotels more than anything?). Whatever it is, it’s a big deal around here and Mama’s head is spinning with ideas on how to decorate, crafts to make, what to cook and Mama’s favorite topic…what to wear!
Yesterday we started by making our homemade flags with construction paper and star stickers – probably the easiest craft one can do for the holiday but one that keeps them busy! Directions: use a piece of red construction paper as the base, next cut a white piece of paper into strips to use as the stripes and glue onto the red. Next take a blue piece of construction paper and cut a square for the star base, glue. Last step is to add your star stickers! Easy, peasy…as if you needed directions for that.
