Well Gisele, sometimes breastfeeding isn’t an option…

If you haven’t heard Mrs. Tom Brady, aka supermodel Gisele Bundchen, spoke out saying that there should be an international law MAKING women breastfeed their children. Not only is this just an ignorant statement, it’s also insensitive beyond belief. Sure, she was lucky enough to be able to have her own children and breastfeed him but what about those that are unable to breastfeed — Mamas that love their babies just the same but adopted or perhaps used a surrogate.

Should a women really be left feeling guilty because they are physically unable to breastfeed? When Mama brought home Lily-girl, we breastfed, and breastfed and pumped. But Mama was just not producing enough milk and the doctor said either start supplementing with formula or we’ll have to admit her to the hospital. Being a new Mama and reading all the information about the pros of breastfeeding and the cons of formula, Mama cried thinking that I had failed my baby all within the first four weeks. Mama continued to do both.

Now, Mama knows better and no Mama should be left feeling this way. Do what you can and make the best decision for you and your baby. In celebration of National Breastfeeding Week, Mama wants to share with you the wonderful tips from my friend, Mommy Loves Coffee, a Mama to 3 healthy and happy boys.

If you do decide to breastfeed, Mama recommends three key products to make both you and baby comfortable.
Medela Pump in Style Advanced Breast Pump with Shoulder Bag

Pump it — a great breastpump will get your milk flowing and you can pump so others can feed the baby — giving Mama much needed time off! Mama loves her Medela Pump In Style Breast Pump, $238.

My Brest Friend Light Green Deluxe PillowPillow please — Mama used at least four or five pillows to prop up Lily-girl and feed her in the hospital. With Baby Boy, Mama got smart and traveled with her own. Mama loves the Boppy, $27, but The Breast Friend, $39, is also a great choice.

Udder Covers Nursing Covers - ElsaCover it — why couldn’t Mama have invented these nursing covers?! What an genius idea since not everyone is comfortable nursing in public! Mama highly recommends keeping one in your diaper bag for those impromptu feedings. In celebration of National Breastfeeding Week, Udder Covers offering a FREE cover! Don’t sweat the small stuff! Breastfeeding is but one small issue to tackle throughout their whole lives — just enjoy your bundles of joy and snuggle them close!

yeah, ya know, I just heard that story this morning on the news. Blew me away. What happened to a woman's body being her own?? Granted, doesn't truly affect me since my kids are older, but still pisses me off on a deeper mom level.I'm a new follower from MBC and I'd love for you to come visit me over at http://www.createyourtraditions.com. :)

    2. I wish more Mom's considered breastfeeding, but it should it no way be mandatory! That's crazy talk.

    3. I totally agree Natalie. It's not something you can make a law but as long as those that can give it a try, it's a purely personal choice.
