Mama Monday – PINK Fitness

One thing is for sure, I love PINK but if I can wear pink and it supports a good cause — all the better! Welcome to National Breast Cancer Awareness month (as if you didn’t know already)! Everywhere you go you in October you will see products sporting the pink ribbon but are they really supporting the cause or only offering $1 for every $100 to their chosen breast cancer organization?! To help you out, I’ve scoured the stores and the Internet for the best of the PINK products that not only give more than their fair share to support a very important cause but are fun, practical and well…cute!

Since it’s Mama Monday, we’re talking PINK Fitness. Go ahead and get your sweat on…all for a good cause! I’ll be walking in the Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure on November 1st in Balboa Park — see if you can find me (or if you want to join me let me know!) — I’ll be the one in the PINK!
  • New Balance Lace Up For the Cure — a Susan G. Komen partner for 20 years, New Balance is committed to donating a guaranteed minimum of $500,000 to the organization (and up to $1 million) through it’s profits from the Lace Up For the Cure fitness line that features 5 styles of athletic shoes, 25 pieces of fitness apparel and 11 different accessories. Mama’s picks are the 769 shoe style which is the official shoe for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure ($100); the sporty tank ($45); and the Bonita Run Skirt ($50). Available at www.newbalance.com. Mama will be wearing all three at the race in November!
  • Yoga Sandals — following the race you can find me relaxing in my Yoga Sandals by Beech Sandal Company. A portion of the proceeds from the Pink Original Sandals will go to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure breast cancer foundation. You will also get a free gift with purchase! The flip-flops feature four toe separators that allow natural alignment of the foot bones and encourage proper forward foot motion with a supportive sole — helping to alleviate back pain and soreness. Available at www.yogasandals.com, $29.95.
  • Pink Pilates — to help whip me into shape for the race, I’ve enlisted the help of an at-home workout by “SHAPE: Mari Winsor Pilates for Pink Core Challenge.” Having had a baby 9 months ago, I’m still working on getting that core back up to par! Now I can feel better doing it since a portion of all DVD sales go to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Available at www.shape.com, $14.98.
  • Pink Poles — these are great for women that want to Race for the Cure but need a little extra help with their balance. Created by Balance Walking, the Pink Poles will help women walk their way to healthy, balanced lifestyle. For every pair purchased, $5 from goes to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Available at www.footsolutions.com, $59.95.
  • Glam Bands — because no-one wants to sweat with hair in their face (or rather sticking to their face!), Glam Headbands are so cute and functional! For the month of October all Web site sales will benefit Dig Pink, a non-profit that raises money for breast cancer awareness through the sport of volleyball. Available in a zillion different colors and patterns at www.glamheadbands.com, $12 and up. What color do you think Mama will be wearing?
